Teaching pride
At Heworth Grange we pride ourselves on meeting the needs of all pupils, ensuring that children of all ages and abilities are fully supported and encouraged to achieve their potential.
Teaching at Heworth is a strength of the school. OFSTED said:
- "Teachers clearly enjoy their work and expect and enable pupils to do their best. Their enthusiasm rubs off on the pupils.”
- Of our pupils they said: “Pupils’ attitudes to learning are very good. They know they are at school to work. "Pupils are courteous, trustworthy and co-operative”
- As well as high academic standards, pupils are offered an impressive range of extra-curricular activities:
- Annual trips abroad include Venice, the Loire Valley, Paris, skiing in Austria and the Christmas markets in Germany.
- Outdoor activities weekends in the Lake District.

As an Arts College we pride ourselves on the quality of our productions, which include concerts, musicals and plays. These involve many of our pupils and offer great enrichment to school life. |

Expectations
Pupils at Heworth Grange are encouraged to be aware of the wider world, recognising the needs of others in our community. They help raise funds for many charities including the Bubble Appeal and the shoebox appeal at Christmas.
Pupils also benefit from having a City Learning Centre on site, which offers them access to the very latest Information and Communication Technology expertise and resources.
