Many people often ask the question ‘What is Media Studies?’ Media Studies is a communications science. Through a wide range of approaches, students investigate the impact of mass media on modern society, examine how media texts are produced and develop the practical skills required to plan, create and evaluate their own media products for target audiences.
Media Studies should not be viewed as an isolated discipline as the subject borrows from several academic fields including: Sociology, Economics, English Language, Politics, Art and I.T.
At Heworth Grange students are invited to opt for G.C.S.E., AS and A Level Media Studies.
