The new installations of equipment start with the investment in two brand new computer suites for the control technology department, along with new computer workstations throughout the school for the use of both staff and students alike.
The need for new and more powerful computing equipment comes about as reliance upon ICT has become more and more profound within teaching, along with the fact that, new applications and computer dependant teaching aids and the like are and have become available.
|
Along with new computer workstations and software, 2006 sees the PSRE department obtain DVD Audio and Video projection equipment to the equivalent standard of a high quality home cinema fitted in two of the PSRE teaching areas.
This allows students access to high quality multimedia by means of DVD, Video or any Streaming Content from PC or Apple Macintosh computer.
This means that because audio and visual
standards have been raised so high in this
area, everyone in the lesson can have the
best seat in the house.

In order to
achieve
the goal of having networked computer terminals within every classroom of the school, with fast access to the school attendance system in every form room, new, high specification computer hardware has been procured.
We are therefore proud to say that this goal has been achieved and indeed exceeded.
The computer systems bought for this purpose have the same high specification as those used to replace older PCs within the school as well as those being installed in the new technology suites.
|
The newest computer systems purchased by the school incorporate Balanced Technology Extended formfactor (BTX for short) desktop technology. This is the replacement for the aging ATX motherboard formfactor as of mid 2005. It has been designed to alleviate some of the issues that arose from using newer technologies (which often demand more power and create more heat) on older ATX specification motherboards. The ATX and BTX standards were both proposed by Intel. |
