A once, uninspiring space used for dance, drama and PE has been transformed thanks to the creativity of students and teachers alike, the once bland hall was given a professional and
contemporary
street-art feel. This was achieved by vivid imagery with modern spray painting techniques and a musical theme even showing song lyrics and extracts of music tablature painted into the brickwork:
The Eye Of The Fly charity was contacted by Dance Tutor Ms S Marshall. Young people from the school compiled sketch ideas and their work was then handed to Eye Of The Fly artist Paul Byers, who came up with the final drawings. The drawings were then transferred to the dance studio wall, with the help of Heworth Grange pupils.
"....an
exciting project with
a huge learning curve.. "
Tor Bruce, Strategic Director of the charity said : "This was an exciting project with a huge learning curve. The students created the initial drawings and presented them as they would a professional brief. The work in itself took over six weeks, from conception to final application. This was a great example of how schools can work with community groups and artists, to achieve positive results which are all part of a learning experience."
