News and Recent Developments - About our school: 2006/07
  About us
In 2005 the school was awarded Arts College Status. This has brought tremendous benefits to the school and the community. It has established Heworth Grange even more firmly as a focus for artistic activity in the Borough. The school has also been awarded the prestigious Artsmark Gold Award for the provision, range and quality of its Arts work. In addition, we have gained The Healthy Schools Award and, through charitable work, the Princess Dianna Memorial Award.
Heworth Grange is also in the first phase of the Government’s “Building Schools for the Future” initiative. This will see substantial rebuilding and refurbishment in the near future, with emphasis on state-of-the-art accommodation and resources, especially Information and Communications Technology.

Although these are significant developments, Heworth has always prided itself on the quality of education it provides in all subjects for its pupils, and for the positive, supportive environment in which this education takes place. This is recognised by OFSTED In the most recent report on the school its overall evaluation stated: “The school provides a good standard of education. Good leadership provides clear direction. Standards are rising and pupils achieve well. The school provides good value for money”.
"..pupils achieve well..."
(OFSTED 2005)

At Heworth we value the support of our local community and strive to meet the educational expectations of parents and pupils. With your help, we will endeavour to encourage your children to become educated, caring, responsible members of society, with the imagination and confidence to make a success of their lives.
